SEC Previews (March 30-April 2)

SEC Baseball Week 3 Preview
Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky and South Carolina enter the weekend with 5-1 records in SEC play. The Razorbacks and Tigers sit atop the SEC Western Division standings. Neither team qualified for the SEC Tournament last season. Arkansas only won seven SEC games in 2016.  The Razorbacks could tie or surpass that number at Alabama this weekend.

The third week of the season began with two games on Thursday night.  Texas A&M, behind the pitching off ace Brigham Hill, shutout LSU 4-0 in Baton Rouge. Miss. State scored all four runs in the final three innings to knock off Ole Miss 4-3 at Swayze Field in Oxford. MSU scored the winning run on a strikeout/passed ball in the ninth inning off ace reliever Dallas Woolfolk, who had retired 22 consecutive hitters over his last seven appearances.

MSU tied the game with three runs in seventh inning; Brent Rooker 2-run double; Cole Gordon PH RBI single
Tate Blackman 2-run triple in fifth inning gave Ole Miss 3-0 lead
Game 2 on Friday at 6 p.m. (CT) on SEC Network

Arkansas (20-5, 5-1 SEC) at Alabama (12-13, 1-5 SEC)
Alabama swept Arkansas in Fayetteville last year
Arkansas swept Alabama at the Hoover Met in 2015
Arkansas leads the SEC with 36 home runs
Alabama has allowed the fewest home runs (8) in the SEC

South Carolina (18-6, 5-1 SEC) at Auburn (21-6, 5-1 SEC)
South Carolina eight straight series wins at Plainsman Park
AU last home series win came in 1996
SC has won 15-of-19 series with AU since joining SEC
South Carolina leads the SEC with a 2.74 ERA
AU Keegan Thompson is second in SEC with 0.70 ERA
AU Casey Mize is fourth in SEC with 0.98 ERA

Florida (17-9, 2-4 SEC) at Missouri (21-4, 4-2 SEC)
Florida has won three of the four series with Mizzou
Missouri has dropped three of four games since 20-game winning streak
Missouri is second in SEC with a .308 batting average
Florida is last in SEC with a .240 batting average

Georgia (11-15, 1-5 SEC) at Tennessee (14-8, 0-6 SEC)
Georgia has won four straight series in Knoxville
UT last home series win 2007
Tennessee is 12th in the SEC with a 3.99 ERA
Georgia is last in the SEC with a 4.92 ERA

Vanderbilt (17-9, 3-3 SEC) at Kentucky (19-7, 5-1 SEC)
Vanderbilt has won seven straight series with UK

UK has not won series since with VU since 2009
