SEC Baseball Recaps (May 6)

Not much has changed in SEC baseball over the last three days; six teams are within 1.5 games of first place with seven conference games remaining.

Miss. State posted a huge road series win at Texas A&M and takes over sole possession of first place in the SEC standings with a 16-8 record.  Florida and Kentucky are tied atop the SEC Eastern Division and are both one game back of the Bulldogs. Arkansas, Auburn and LSU are all 14-9 in league play and 1.5 games behind MSU.

Alabama made the most noise on Saturday by winning both games of double header at arch-rival Auburn. The Crimson Tide posted 4-3 and 7-6 wins and doubled in SEC win total (from 2 wins to 4 wins) in a span of seven hours.  Alabama has six straight series wins over Auburn and won six straight games at Plainsman Park.  Alabama had two wins over Auburn on the same day for the first time since May 7, 1983, when UA won 9-1 and 7-4 in Auburn.

Missouri snapped a 13-game SEC regular-season losing streak to Vanderbilt in its 12-inning win over the Commodores on Saturday. Florida overcame a 4-0 deficit to take the series with Ole Miss, 7-4. LSU and Kentucky both evened their weekend series with wins on Saturday.
