The 2017 NCAA Super Regionals begin this weekend. The eight winners of the best-of-three series will advance to the College World Series in Omaha.
SEC TIES RECORD WITH 6 SUPER REGIONAL TEAMS:
The SEC has six teams in the 2017 NCAA Super Regionals, tying its own record for most teams in a Super Regional; Florida, LSU, Vanderbilt, Miss. State, Kentucky and Texas A&M have advanced to this year’s Super Regionals.
The SEC also had six Super Regional teams in 2004 as Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina and Vanderbilt all won NCAA Regionals.
The SEC sent four teams to the 2004 CWS as Arkansas (defeated Florida State), Georgia (defeated Georgia Tech); LSU (defeated Texas A&M) and South Carolina (defeated East Carolina) to win Super Regionals; Florida (lost to Miami) and Vanderbilt (lost to Texas) were eliminated in the Super Regional round.
