SEC Baseball Recaps (March 2)

sec-baseball-logoMissouri tossed a combined no-hitter, Florida’s Wil Dalton belted three home runs and Alabama and Texas A&M fell from the ranks of the unbeaten to kickoff the third weekend of non-conference play.

Bryce Montes De Oca (7 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 12 K), Giovanni Lopez (1 IP, 0 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) and Nolan Gromacki (1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K) combined on the school’s 10th no-hitter in a 7-1 win over Maryland-Baltimore County. It was the first no-hitter by the Tigers since┬áMax Scherzer and Michael Cole combined to no-hit Texas Tech on April 1, 2005.

Wil Dalton had three home runs and six RBIs in the Gators 12-5 win over Stony Brook. Dalton homered on the fourth pitch of the game to give the Gators an early lead. He added a game-tying 2-run home run in the fifth inning and capped the scoring with a 3-run home run in the eighth inning.

Alabama and Texas A&M both suffered their first loss of the season. The Crimson Tide suffered a 2-1 loss in 11 innings at Oklahoma, while the Aggies suffered a 4-2 loss to Louisiana Tech at the Frisco (Texas) College Classic.

South Carolina posted a walk-off win over rival Clemson, giving coach Mark Kingston a win in his first game against the Tigers.
