Mississippi State opened the new Dudy Noble Field with a 5-1 win over New Mexico State. A pair of MSU pitchers held the high-powered Aggies to one run on five hits. NMSU entered the game as the No. 1 scoring offense in the nation.
Auburn overcame a 5-run deficit in the seventh inning to keep its season-opening winning streak alive. AU scored seven runs in the seventh and eighth innings en route to an 11-8 win at UAB to improve to 13-0 on the season.
Appalachian State-South Carolina and Eastern Illinois-Missouri were rained out.
In non-SEC baseball news, Saint Peter’s (0-4) suffered its 43rd straight loss with a 21-1 setback to Pittsburgh on Tuesday. The Peacocks return to action this weekend at LIU-Brooklyn.
