SEC Baseball Recaps (March 18)

sec-baseball-logoArkansas and Vanderbilt opened SEC play with three-game sweeps. Arkansas swept Kentucky in Fayetteville. Vanderbilt swept Miss. State in Starkville.

Vanderbilt held MSU to four runs in the weekend series. Arkansas belted 10 home runs in the sweep of the Wildcats.

Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Ole Miss all had series wins.

Florida, Georgia and Vanderbilt had road series wins.

On the national scene, Siena (0-14) and St. Peter’s (0-7) are the last two winless teams in the country.

Saint Peter’s (0-7) owns the nation’s longest losing streak with 46 consecutive losses. The Peacocks did not play this weekend and return to action Tuesday against Albany.

Siena (0-17) remained winless with a 13-8 loss at Wofford on Sunday. Siena led 8-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, but yielded 11 runs in the final two innings to keep its losing streak intact.

Princeton (2-9) posted first win of season with 5-3 win at Georgetown on Friday. The Tigers and Hoyas split the four-game series.

Cornell (1-8) stopped 7-game season opening losing streak with 4-3 win over Fordham on Saturday. Fordham won game one of DH and took the series with a 5-3 win on Sunday.

Western Illinois (2-13) snapped a 12-game season opening losing streak with a 2-0 win over North Dakota State on Saturday. The Leathernecks took the series by splitting Sunday’s double header.
