The new video board at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field will be the largest in college baseball when it begins operating for the Tigers’ 2019 season opener in February.
The state-of-the art structure, located in left field, measures 71.4 feet wide by 37.8 feet high for a total square footage of 2,698. The 16 mm high-definition video board will provide instant replays and enhanced statistical information with the capability for full-screen video viewing. The 2018 All-Bats and Blogs college baseball team was unveiled today. The all-star team was selected by Bats and Blogs publisher and editor Barry Allen. To be eligible for the team, I actually had to see the player in person (at least one game or a number of games) during the 2018 college baseball season. The stats are based only on the games that I witnessed. Overall, I attended 61 college baseball games this season and saw 27 different Division I teams. There were many great individual performances during the season.

OLE MISS WINS THIRD TOURNAMENT TITLE:
The Ole Miss Rebels captured the 2018 SEC Tournament championship with a 9-1 win over LSU in Sunday’s championship game. The Rebels iced the game with a four-run seventh inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Will Golsan and two-run home run from Tim Rowe. Michael Fitzsimmons added a pinch-hit, two-run home run in the ninth inning. Ole Miss won its third SEC Tournament championship on Sunday. The Rebels also won the title in 1977 and 2006. Ole Miss won a share of the SEC Western Division championship; Mississippi State swept No. 1 ranked Florida and Missouri claimed the final SEC Tournament spot with a series-clinching win over Tennessee on Saturday.
For only the second time in league history, nine SEC teams finished with .500 or better conference record (it also happened in 2016).

Welcome to the final day of the 2018 SEC baseball regular season!
There is still so much to be played for in the final seven games on the regular-season schedule. Arkansas and Ole Miss are battling for the SEC Western Division title. The Missouri-Tennessee winner earns the No. 12 seed in next week’s SEC Tournament.
SEC Tournament seeding will be a major factor on the final day of the regular season.

The final weekend of the SEC regular season began Thursday night with 12 of the league’s 14 teams jockeying for post-season positioning.
Florida has locked up the No. 1 seed at the 2018 SEC Tournament and Mississippi State, with a thrilling comeback win over the Gators on Thursday night, clinched a tournament berth. Missouri defeated Tennessee 3-2 in 12 innings on Thursday and owns a one-game lead over the Vols for the final tournament berth.
Arkansas and Ole Miss, who are close to locking up first round byes in the SEC Tournament, are battling for the SEC Western Division championship. Arkansas holds a one-game lead over Ole Miss with two games to play. Arkansas needs one more win over Georgia and one loss by Ole Miss at Alabama to clinch the division title. Ole Miss wins the division with three wins over Alabama and one Arkansas loss at Georgia

Florida scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat Georgia 7-6 in the series opener at Gainesville on Friday night. The Gators are one win away from clinching the 2018 SEC Championship. Florida (19-6 SEC) has four-game lead over Georgia (15-10 SEC) and Arkansas (15-10 SEC) in the SEC standings.
Senior captain JJ Schwarz went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, one home run and three RBIs to lead the Gators to the win.
Ole Miss picked up a huge series win with an 8-3 victory over Auburn at Swayze Field. Tyler Keenan went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, one home run and four RBIs. He delivered and RBI single in first and then belted a 2-run home run in the fourth inning. He capped the night with an RBI double in sixth inning. Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco recorded his 800th career win on Friday night. He also has 700 career wins at Ole Miss.
LSU kept its NCAA Tournament hopes alive with an improbable 7-5 win over Alabama. Trailing 5-1 in the eighth, LSU scored six runs, capped by Beau Jordan’s go-ahead grand slam.
