SEC Baseball Recaps (April 25)

sec-baseball-logoWith only three games on Wednesday’s schedule, most SEC teams are gearing up for another big weekend in conference play. Georgia won its fifth straight game over rival Georgia Tech with an 8-3 win at Russ Chandler Stadium in Atlanta.  Tennessee Tech extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 26 games with a 7-6 win at Tennessee. Five Kentucky pitchers limited high-powered Morehead State to one run and six hits in the Cats 7-1 win.

Saint Peter’s (0-30) extended its losing streak to 69 games with a 17-0 loss at Rutgers on Wednesday. The Scarlet Knights used an 11-run fourth inning for the blowout win. St. Peter’s hosts Niagara (12-22, 4-8 MAAC) in a three-game series this weekend. Niagara has a 279 RPI entering the weekend.

Northwestern State blasted MVSU in a two-game midweek series, outscoring the Delta Devils 55-0. NSU won 21-0 on  Tuesday and 34-0 on Wednesday. MVSU was also outscored 74-4 in three losses at New Mexico State on Feb. 24-26. The Delta Devils dropped the opener 39-0 and suffered a 20-0 loss in series finale.

SEC Baseball Recaps (March 11)

sec-baseball-logoTexas A&M and Ole Miss completed weekend sweeps on Sunday. The Aggies dismantled Long Beach State, outscoring the Dirtbags, 27-3 in the series. Ole Miss swept Eastern Illinois on the final non-conference weekend.

The final undefeated team went down as Louisville suffered its first loss of the season in a 10-3 loss to North Carolina. Louisville was also the last team to lose in 2017.

St. Peter’s (0-6) extended the nation’s longest losing streak to 45 games with a pair of losses at LIU-Brooklyn on Sunday. The Peacocks lost 9-5 and 13-2 (7 innings). St. Peter’s plays at Seton Hall on Wednesday.  Continue reading “SEC Baseball Recaps (March 11)”
