Former Vanderbilt standout Walker Buehler threw six no-hit innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers completed a combined no-hitter with 4-0 in over the San Diego Padres in Monterrey, Mexico. It was the 298th no-hitter in MLB history and the 18th combined no-hitter in MLB history. The Dodgers have 23 no-hitters, but this was the first combined no-hitter in franchise history.
Buehler, the 23-year-old rookie making only his third career start, pitched six innings and was removed after making 93 pitches, having struck out eight and walked three. Buehler has been handled delicately since requiring Tommy John surgery in 2015 and being drafted in the first round.
