TUSCALOOSA – Shelton State freshman right hander JD Wilkins was named the ACCC Division I Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Wilkins faced one batter over the minimum in a combined 9-0 shutout win over Wallace Hanceville on Saturday, April 6.
He retired 10 of last 11 hitters he faced, after he allowed one out double in second inning.
Wilkins allowed only three total base runners and only one runner reached second base.
Wilkins is riding a 4-game winning streak on the mound. He ranks second in ACCC with five wins on the mound.
This is the third Pitcher of the Week honor for Shelton State and the second weekly honor for Wilkins.
Wilkins was also named ACCC Pitcher of the Week after a 2-1 win over No. 9 NW Florida Stare on Feb. 29.
Fellow freshman right-hander Caleb Pittman was tabbed the ACCC Pitcher of the Week after his perfect game against Calhoun on March 21.
The Bucs are back in action on Thursday with a home double header against Lawson State at 2 p.m.
