Six Bucs Players Among Top Region 22 Prospects

TUSCALOOSA – Shelton State placed six players on the Top 24 NJCAA Region XXII baseball prospects list, compiled by the Junior College Baseball Blog.

The Bucs have five position players, including the No. 1 overall prospect, among the Top 12 position players in the region.

Sophomore second baseman/third baseman Kyle Morrison is No. 1 overall prospect, according to the JBB.

Morrison leads the ACCC with a .444 batting average and .578 on-base percentage.

He ranks on the Top 10 in the ACCC in 13 different offensive categories.

Sophomore right fielder Jordan Evans is the No. 3 overall prospect. Evans is second in the ACCC with 55 runs scored and 13 HBPs.

Sophomore shortstop Nick Wilson is the No. 4 overall prospect. Wilson leads the ACCC with 48 games played and 198 plate appearances. He is fourth in the league with 43 RBIs.

Freshman centerfielder Pierce Dutton is the No. 6 overall prospect. Dutton is second in the ACCC with 30 stolen bases. He needs six stolen bases to set the Shelton State single-season record with 36 stolen bases.

Sophomore first baseman Wesley Helms is the No. 9 overall prospect. Helms leads the ACCC with 63 hits.

Three of the regions top four prospects, and four of top six prospects, play for Bucs.

Freshman right hander Caleb Pittman is the only Bucs pitcher among the Top 12 pitching prospects in Region XXII.

Pittman is the No. 6 overall pitching prospect. He is second in the ACCC with 11 starts and six wins, and ranks fifth with 53 strikeouts.

Pierce Dutton ranks second in ACCC with 30 stolen bases.
