College …  The Lions scoring streak fell three games shy of the all-time NAIA record … Davenport University (NCAA Division 2) posted its first win over an NCAA Division I opponent with a wild 26-19 win at Central Michigan … LaSalle first baseman Ryan Guckin smacked two homers and drove in six runs in the 24-7 win over Saint Peter’s … Memphis catcher Hunter Goodman belted two home runs in the Tigers 18-11 win over North Alabama … Nevada second baseman Keaton Smith drilled the first pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning over the left field fence to lift the Wolfpack to an 8-7 walk off win over No. 2 Oregon State … Nevada swept the 2-game series with a pair of walk off, extra inning wins over the Beavers.

College Baseball Notes (April 20)

UTSAI took in a baseball triple-header on Saturday … My first two games was a Conference USA double header between Texas San Antonio and UAB at Young Memorial Field in Birmingham … UTSA was my 237th different college baseball team to see in person … The Roadrunners were my 184th different NCAA Division I baseball team … I have now seen 11 of the 12 C-USA teams, missing only Charlotte (the 49ers play at UAB on May 10-12) … Following the C-USA double header, I headed back to Tuscaloosa to watch Vanderbilt and Alabama … Some highlights of the day in college baseball … British Columbia College (NAIA) Niall Windeler tossed the first 9-inning no-hitter in school history in the 6-0 win over Oregon Tech … Kansas State scored 10 runs in its final three at-bats to overtake TCU 11-10 and take the Big 12 series in Manhattan … Navy senior right hander Noah Song tossed a complete-game one-hitter in the 3-0 win over Army in the Patriot League series opener … Rio Grande (NAIA) senior right-hander Zach Harvey became the school’s career shutouts leader following a 1-0 win over Indiana-Kokomo in River States Conference action … Saint Peter’s had the dubious distinction of losing three games on Saturday to Canisius … West Virginia junior RHP Alex Manoah was dominant again in the Mountaineers 1-0 win over Kansas. Manoah hurled a complete-game three hit shutout and struck out 15 batters … West Texas A&M senior first baseman Kyle Kaufman set the single-game school record with 10 RBIs in the Buffs 25-7 win over UT Permian Basin.

College Baseball Diamond Notes (Mar. 30)

UASO PitcherSeton Hall and University of Sciences and Arts Oklahoma (NAIA) both tossed no hitters on Saturday … Five Seton Hall pitchers combined on the school’s third no-hitter in the last four years … Seton Hall pitched the fifth no-hitter in Division I baseball this season … USAO tossed its second no-hitter of the season on Saturday … It was the 13th no-hitter in NAIA baseball this year … Radford right fielder Adam Szamski had a historic day, going 6-for-6 with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs in the win over Winthrop … He tied the school record with six hits and 14 total bases … Indiana hit nine home runs in the 20-5 win over Maryland.
