CWS Recaps (Sunday, June 17)

2018 CWS LogoArkansas endured a nearly three-hour rain delay and then scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Texas 11-5 to open bracket two play on Sunday afternoon.

Luke Bonfield stroked a 2-run home run to give the Razorbacks a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning.  Arkansas added two more runs in the sixth inning had the bases loaded when the game was stopped due to a lengthy weather delay. After nearly three hours, Arkansas continued its offensive assault with an 8-run inning to take an 11-2 lead.

Texas Tech posted a 6-3 win over No. 1 seed Florida in the nightcap on Sunday. The Red Raiders only have two CWS wins in history and both have come against the Gators. Florida, who falls into the loser’s bracket, is seeking to become the first No. 1 seed to win the CWS since Miami in 1999.
